Mrs. Harry (Marinda) Brown

Mrs. Marinda Brown, wife of Foxfire contact Harry Brown, learned to weave from her mother-in-law. Her own mother, Mary Elizabeth Cook Smart, was an accomplished weaver, spinner, and dyer–skills and qualities Marinda inherited. Though Marinda worked with all kinds of fibers and patterns, she was most known to Foxfire for her woven rugs, made from worn out clothing or scraps from a nearby factory.
