Learn the basics of needle felting! In this two-hour course, fiber artist Kelly Coldren will teach you the basics of sculpting wool using needles. These techniques can be used to make a variety of creations, from beads and garland to woodland critters! The course fee covers instruction, use of tools, and materials. Native Plant Week – Botany & Bartram

During our Native Plant Week, Brent Martin of the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy will lead a two-mile walk exploring the rich flora and fauna of Foxfire, and discuss the 18th century naturalist William Bartram’s travels through the area in May of 1775. Participants will learn basic birding techniques and bird species in the area, with an emphasis on neotropical migrants, as well as plant and tree identification.
