“Our Appalachia” : Free Community Lecture Series

Join us this year for our first series of public lectures! Held at the Rabun County Public Library, these monthly talks will feature a variety of topics, from moonshining and quilting to Cherokee language and culture. In September, we will hear from local herbalist and chef, Cara-Lee Langston. Cara-Lee is a South African-born nutritionist, herbalist, wellness cook, forager, and educator.  She holds an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Georgia State University, a Certificate in Medical Herbalism from the BotanoLogos School of Herbal Studies, a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Integrative Health from the Maryland University of Integrative Health, and is a Certified Wild Mushroom Food Safety Specialist through Mushroom Mountain.

Cara strives to build relationships with local growers and wildcrafters and engage community interest in integrative health and wellness. Based in the Northeast Georgia Mountains, Cara-Lee provides food and nature-based education and nutrition services for children and adults through her company, Wildcraft Kitchen.
