Traditional Handbuilding Pottery Methods

November 3 @ 11:00 am 2:00 pm

In this exciting class led by Georgann Lanich, you will explore 3 different pottery methods that were used by many cultures before the invention of the pottery wheel. Each of these methods stand alone, but can be combined for different creative results. You will have the chance to create more than one type of piece. These will be available to pick up after firing (heating the clay in a kiln to transform it into a durable ceramic material) and will include an optional day to glaze your work (or you can arrange to have the glazing done for you). Shipping arrangements can be made for an added fee based on current postage prices if pick-up is not possible. This is a great way to enjoy clay for all levels of interest. Admission to the class also includes admission for one to tour the Foxfire Museum on both the Pottery Building and Glazing Days. This class is for participants 14 years or older, and our class size is capped at 5 people to ensure everyone has one-on-one attention from the instructor for a fantastic pottery experience!
