Cordage/Glue Making Class

July 6 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The construction of cordage and glue by first communities likely represented a significant leap forward for humanity, not unlike learning to make the first tools. Andrew Lee brings significant teaching and practical experience to learning these skills. Using materials easily accessible in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, students in this class will come away with the knowledge and practice necessary to identify plants, prepare and construct cordage. In the afternoon students will learn to make glue using pine sap, charcoal and dried plant matter. This class beautifully can be paired with Flintknapping for acquiring some of the Cherokee/First People’s expertise/skills.
