August 16 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Join us for Community Dye Day with Kelly Coldren this Saturday, August 16 at Foxfire!
Come visit Foxfire from 9 am – 1 pm and bring something white and 100% cotton: tote bags, bandanas, t-shirts, pillowcases, socks, or any small fun items as long as it’s 100% cotton, and watch it transform in our rich, blue indigo dye pot ~
Indigo dyeing has deep roots in Appalachia, where communities used plant-based dyes to color cloth long before synthetic dyes existed. This hands-on tradition connects us to generations of makers who brought beauty and creativity to everyday life.
Drop your item in the indigo pot at the start of your self-guided tour, explore the Foxfire Museum, and pick it up at the end and now transformed into a one-of-a-kind keepsake!
No registration required; free with general admission to the museum.
It’s a really lovely way to spend a Saturday with your family, and we hope to see you here!
