October 24 @ 10:00 am – October 25 @ 4:00 pm
This two-day workshop introduces students to the process of forging an American tomahawk under the guidance of Foxfire blacksmith John Scroggin.
Students will work at the forge using anvil, hammer, and hand tools while learning tool safety, heat control, shaping, and finishing. This is a focused, hands-on class for students who are ready for a longer forge project and comfortable working around heat, tools, and repeated hammer work.
Students should wear comfortable, natural fiber clothing such as cotton, clothes they don’t mind getting messy, and closed-toe shoes. Bring lunch and bottled water. Materials fee is included.
Minimum age is 14. If under 18, a parent/guardian is required to be present with the student during class for observing only, not participating. Class fee includes admission for both the youth and accompanying adult.
Class subject to change. Participant agrees to sign a waiver at the start of class. Please arrive on time for important safety information.
Saturday 10 AM–4 PM; Sunday 12–4 PM
