Nothing goes together quite like fresh bread and butter—and in this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to make both from scratch! Join heritage cooking demonstrator Mary Waldrop on Saturday, July 26, for Bread & Butter: Sourdough Bread and Buttermaking at the Foxfire Museum.
Mary will guide you through the steps of traditional sourdough bread-making—from feeding your starter to baking the perfect loaf—and you’ll even go home with some of her 250-year-old French sourdough starter to keep the magic going. Then roll up your sleeves for a hands-on butter lesson using old-fashioned methods that you can easily replicate at home.
Your class fee includes full admission to the Foxfire Museum, so be sure to arrive early or stay after to explore our historic cabins, forest trails, Appalachian exhibits, and kid-friendly Children’s Village.
