DESCRIPTION:Celebrate native plants in Appalachia with a guided plant identification walk at the Foxfire Museum. Southern Appalachia is one of the most botanically diverse regions of the world. On this walk\, led by Cara-Lee Langston of Wildcraft Kitchen\, participants will be introduced to useful plants and fungi that can be used as food or medicine. Topics covered include the basics of botanical identification\, ethical wildcrafting and stewardship\, and culinary and medicinal uses of wild foods and herbs. \nREGISTER HERE. \nCheck out our other events during Native Plant Week\, May 11th – 13th\, 2023! \nOutdoor Preparedness \nParticipants should feel comfortable walking 1-2 miles at a gentle pace. Please wear closed-toe shoes with socks and long pants/sleeves to protect against poison ivy and insects.
