Raffle Tickets - Rocking Chair
Renowned traditional chairmaker Max Woody has donated a hand-made rocking chair to be raffled by Foxfire, to help fund improvements to the Foxfire Museum & Heritage Center in Mountain City, GA. The chair was made by Max and his son Myron, and is made of red oak wood, using traditional joining methods employing no metal fasteners. The chair stands 46" tall, the rockers are 33" long, and the chair is 27" across the arms. The arms are 21" long. The seat, hand-woven by Max's wife Pat, is just under 20" wide at the front edge and 16" deep. (All measurements are approximate.) Estimated retail value of the chair is $900. The raffle drawing will be held April 10, 2010, during Foxfire's Living History Days event ( click here for more info on the event and on Max Woody). Online ticket sales will end the night of April 8, due to the lead time required to prepare tickets prior to the drawing.
This raffle is a fundraising effort, and due to the cost of credit card processing fees, we are not able to offer single tickets (normally $2 each) through the web site. Tickets can be purchased in sets of 3-for-$5 (adding 1 item to the shopping cart purchases 3 tickets). We will fill out the tickets with your name and contact information (or that of your family/friend that you supply on this page). For confirmation of your entry in this raffle, you will receive a scanned image (via email) of your completed tickets, including ticket numbers.
While anyone is welcome to purchase tickets on the rocker, and you do not have to be present at the drawing to win the chair, please understand that we can not ship this chair to you. If you win the rocker, you will be solely responsible for claiming it in person at the Museum office in Mountain City, GA.
*Raffle tickets are not considered "charitable contributions" by the IRS, and therefore are NOT tax deductible.
