The Foxfire Museum
and Heritage Center
The Foxfire Museum is tucked away on a mountainside in Mountain City,
in the northeastern tip of Georgia—in beautiful Rabun County, located
within two hours' drive from Asheville, Atlanta, Greenville, and Knoxville.
Scenic US Highway 441 is the route to Mountain City.
Once you've reached Mountain City:
NOTE: The official parking area and entrance for the Museum, the gift shop, is located at
98 Foxfire Lane (previously 200 Foxfire Lane, before our new driveway was completed).
However, please be aware that our location and the new driveway may not appear correctly
in navigation software or on GPS devices, so please follow the map and directions below.
Watch for brown State Park signs on US 441, follow them to Black Rock Mountain Parkway.
On the Parkway, travel up appx. 1 mile, watch for the first small brown Foxfire sign.
At the huge "Black Rock Mtn. State Park" sign, turn left onto Down Home Lane.
Just over 1/10 mile, turn left at the stop sign onto Cross Street (gravel road for a time).
4/10 mile down Cross Street, watch for our sign and turn right onto our NEW, wider,
smoother, less-steep driveway. Stop at the Gate House, the first log cabin you’ll see.
If you rely on your GPS device heavily, the address 705 Cross Street or
the GPS coordinates 34.91235N, 83.39570W should get you within sight
of the new Foxfire Lane and our entrance sign on Cross Street. Hopefully,
our new driveway filtering out to the public mapping data will allow us to post
a usable GPS location for the actual Gift Shop parking area in the future.
